Actress and author, Samantha Baines. Plus, audiologist Laura Ewen. Brought to you by Hidden Hearing
👉 Over one billion young people face the risk of permanent hearing loss due to prolonged exposure to loud sounds during recreational pastimes such as listening to music and video gameplay. That’s according to figures from the World Health Organisation to mark World Hearing Day, 2025. The good news is that simple changes can make a massive difference, such as using headphones safely and following the 60/60 rule — that’s listening at no more than 60% of your device’s volume, and taking a break after 60 minutes to help protect your hearing. Audiologist Laura Ewen tells Dr. Hilary about the signs to look out for if you’re worried about your hearing, and the steps you can take right now.
👉 Samantha Baines has appeared in Netflix’s “The Crown,” “Call the Midwife,” and hosts “The Divorce Social” podcast. As a hearing aid wearer, she serves as an ambassador for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People and has written books featuring deaf characters. Samantha tells Dr. Hilary how she discovered she had a problem with her hearing and how this led to her campaigning for deaf rights.

Broadcasting legend, Angela Rippon, plus Dr Helen Webberley from GenderGP with Shivone
👉 Angela Rippon has been on our TV screens for nearly six decades. As the first regular female BBC newsreader, she broke barriers and went on to host shows including Come Dancing, Top Gear, and Antiques Roadshow. Her performance on Morecambe and Wise’s Christmas Special became television history. In 2023, at 79, she came full circle by competing on Strictly Come Dancing. She tells Dr Hilary all about the national campaign to inspire everyone in the UK to embrace dance as a way to improve health, connect with others, and have fun.
👉 Dr. Helen Webberley founded GenderGP ten years ago, as an online clinic dedicated to offering services to transgender and non-binary individuals. She was suspended following a misconduct finding but won a High Court appeal in 2023. The debate around gender identity is complex and Dr Webberley explains the many, sometimes controversial issues, alongside Shivone who is a trans girl.

Comedian Harry Hill, plus the man who claims he can live to 150.
👉 Comedy wasn’t Harry Hill’s first choice of career. He chose medicine, instead, qualifying as a doctor after training in London. He reflects on those early days as medical student, and why he followed that path after a teacher at school told him there was “no way he would get into medical school.” Harry tells Doctor Hilary how the profession has changed in the intervening years, and that he probably should “never have been a doctor in the first place.” With a career that’s included the hit shows TV Burp and You’ve been Framed, to his latest 80-date tour, he’s never regretted changing direction..
👉 Plus, in the UK, a man can expect to live to 79, and women, 83 years of age. Dr Hilary is joined by a man who believes he can live until 150 and thinks you can too. He’s Doctor Edouard Debonneuil, COO of the London Longevity Clinic. He shares the top three things you can do to live longer, how he can accurately estimate someone’s biological age to within a few years, and how he hopes to live to 150.
